Obsah kurzu

This course helps students refresh the key concepts of preparing a treatment and a formal feature length script from an original idea through review of established techniques and the introduction of new ones for screenwriting in the 21st Century. Students progress to researching and developing a comprehensive treatment and writing an original formal script for a feature film. Working from a shared vocabulary, students will create their characters and settings, visualize their narratives in a classic three act structure with plots and subplots, while learning the art of title, opening and closing sequences as well as the importance of sustaining memorable dialogue. Throughout, students will review existing techniques and develop new skills necessary to write and revise scripts for production. Emphasis will be on writing a feature film script, but the class will also include weekly brief informal writing assignments concentrating on landmarks in Prague. Importantly, students will learn how to give and receive repeated critiques on original scripted work.
