Learning objectives:

The seminar enhances the knowledge gained in music history courses by providing a listening experience in the field of 20th and 21st century music, while deepening insight into the analysis and study of compositions through commentary on scores, which will be provided to students in electronic form for further study or repeated listening upon request.

Musicologists, composers and guests of the Academy of Performing Arts are invited to the seminars for individual presentations, through which students have the opportunity to get acquainted with current events on the contemporary music scene.

  1. Music of the 20th century with a focus on the period after 1950
  2. Contemporary music

The course can be enrolled in repeatedly.

Learning outcomes

The student will gain information about the wider field of contemporary music by listening to the pieces in an unabridged form.
