Course contents

The theme of this year's One World Festival „Paths of Freedom“ also reflects this year's main thematic category with the same name. It will present documents from countries with undemocratic regimes from areas where minority rights are being suppressed. The films reflect the important social upheavals that are currently taking place in these countries and let people who are forced to deal with them speak.

The masterclass of director Petr Lom, who made the film „Myanmar Diaries“, the winner of the Berlinale 2022 festival, will take place in the room U1 on Friday, March 25, 2022, 17-18:30 -

Cinematographer, screenwriter and director Petr Lom (* May 15, 1968) began his career as a professor of philosophy at Harvard Ph.D. His film „The Kidnapping of the Bride in Kyrgyzstan“ (2004) won a number of awards around the world. „On a Tightrope“ (2007) was screened at Sundance and won the Grand Prize at the Chicago Documentary Film Festival and at the Human Rights Festival in Warsaw. „Letters to the President“ (2009) premiered at the Berlinale. The film „Back to the Square“ (2012) premiered in Rotterdam, won the Jury Prize in Hong Kong and was the opening film at One World Prague and the final film at CPHDOX. „Ana Ana“ (2013) was nominated for Best Film at IDFA. In 2016, Petr Lom made the film „Burma Storybook“ and in 2019 „Angels on Diamond Street“. More at
