35mm b/w film in studio (240m for all students together)

Basic motion picture lighting in studio; balancing exterior/ interior.

grey chart test shots, exposure and tonality tests; over- and underexposure.

Creating of essential atmospheres through lighting: day, evening, night.

all students shoot together for two days. teacher present

2 film prints: basic and graded (students present at grading)

Learning outcomes

Being an essential part of the “lighting seminar 1+2” of the first year’s master program, this exercise is an essential part of the cinematography student’s education.
