Introduction to topics - a brief historical development of theatre and film set-design. A fundamental introduction to the issues of theatre and film set-design, their historical development and trends. The film set-design profession. Generally used nomenclature, differences in terminology in individual countries, differences in manners of practice. The position of the film set-designer in the structure of the film crew. Communications with other crew members. The composition of the artistic department in a film crew. Individual parts of the set-designer's work on a film project. The artistic concept. Inspection of locations. Scenery proposal, designed and implemented. Proposal adjustments on-set. Scenery implementation. Adjustments during shooting. Work of the artist during effects shots. Artistic proposals for creating computer generated scenery and adjusments. Examples of implementation and an analysis of their concept in individual examples.

Learning outcomes

Gaining bearings in film set-design issues and the work of the set-designer. Preparations for the Anticorro project.
