Anotace:

The course is focused on understanding and practising digital imaging not only as an alternative of classical photography, but also as a modern creative tool moving forward the creative photography. First grade students will understand basic principles of photographic picture raster scanning and transforming into a data file through a computer. Students will get to know the functions of a computer and its peripheries as alternatives to the processing of photography in a dark chamber. Simultaneously, the first grade will serve to balance computer knowledge of individual students. The course will also explain and determine the organization of work on a school computer.

Method of Study:

The first grade students will get to know the functions of a digital camera, the size of CCD (chip) scanner, line scanner and the scanner functioning. They will understand the relation between the size of CCD and photography printable by a desk printer and a professional offset. They will get familiarized with guiles of data interpolation. Then the students will start working on computers and will get to know computer peripheries. The terms such as colour management, workflow, colour gamut, ICC files, operation system setting and basic computer SW maintenance will be explained. Then, basic work in Photoshop, basic high-quality scanning and digital scanning will follow. Raw format and its processing. All procedures will be made on computers in the computer room and will be presented step by step and practised by students. The theoretical and practical part will be completed with discussions. The study program will be adjusted according to the level of students' knowledge and students may be sorted into individual levels of teaching. Lessons: a block of 4 lessons once a fortnight, of which 2 lessons are exercises and discussions.

Tasks: (exercise 1P7)

Independent scanning of Kodak coloured table, its computer processing and subsequent printing. Comparison of the print with the original. To be evaluated at the end of the summer semester.

Evaluation: Classified credit - summer semester: awarded on the basis of evaluation of the submitted exercise and mainly activity during lessons.

Participation: Student's obligatory participation in 80% of lectures and participation in obligatory common tutorials will be the precondition for the student's evaluation.
