The course introduces students in the Production Department at FAMU to the basic principles of a contract for negotiating and signing licensing agreements for items protected by copyright law and licensing agreements connected with various types of business contracts in the preparation, production and distribution of audiovisual works.
Given the many provisional regulations in lincensing under copyright law, contract practice involves negotiating many standard points to provide producers of audiovisual works with adequate legal security.
The course analyses individual standard contract forms of licensing agreements standardly used in the preparation, production and subsequent use of audiovisual works, with an emphasis on basic contractual terms of individual types of contracts („checklists“), customary fee negotations, and the frequent constractual shortcomings of the above-mentioned contracts.
