-
The aim of the lectures is to introduce students to the basic questions of the theory of photography and art theory in general with the emphasis on themes characteristic for the entire development of photography as a medium, i.e. in particular to show the relationship of photography to the transverse sciences (philosophy, aesthetics, psychology, sociology, ethics, history, art history, etc.) and acquaint them with the standing of photography in topical social themes, especially in relation to politics, advertising, feminism, etc.
They will show the possibilities of the presentation of photographs as works of art (gallery and commercial context) and within the framework of this acquaintance with the basic approaches to perception of the photographic image. Students will be led to understand the sense of critical consideration of works of art and learn to differentiate between criticism, reviews, essays, reports, medallions and other means of reflecting a work of art, and in addition they will be acquainted with the manner of processing source materials and other practical preparation for the writing of theoretical work.
The idea of this subject is to lead the students to an understanding of creative art in the context of period connections and to try to find values independent of space and time; photography will be presented here as an inseparable and in many cases decisive part of modern and contemporary art.
