Course Description:
The student may ask any teacher in the Department of Photography to be his or her supervisor, but it is assumed that the photographic book will be made within the chosen studio.
The picture book is one of the student's main assignments, and is intended to demonstrate skills he or she has acquired during his or her studies. The picture publication is part of the final examinations in the fifth year and therefore can be presented as a work in progress but it must close to completion. From the presented shape the final form, the student intends to submit in Master programme examination, must be clear.
Assignments:
Winter semester of the fourth year:
The topic of the planned publication and presenting it to the selected supervisor. After the teacher consents to supervise the picture book, the student is required to inform the Department of Photography of who his or her supervisor is and what his or her topic is. By writing a credit in the student's course-unit record book, the supervisor is stating that he or she is acquainted with the student's project and is willing to supervise it.
Summer semester:
Writing an explanatory essay and consultation with the supervising teacher, developing the topic.
The photographic book must contain at least 15 photographs. The style, size, and form of mounting must correspond to the chosen topic and orientation, and require the consent of the supervisor. The photographic book can be presented in a form other than the traditional book (e.g. in electronic form), but only after the student has justified this form, received the supervisor s consent, and the teaching staff have approved of it at a meeting of the Department.
