Course Description:
This series consists of lectures, which will be given by outstanding personalities, who are linked to photography. The series is connected to History of Photography and Theory of Photography courses. The basis given by these courses is, however, modified by specific themes and approaches of the invited guests (lecturers). Students can thus learn on various approaches to photography, art, culture and other important issues.
The invited photographers will lecture on their own art-work, which means they will show their own way of presenting and understanding it and their own opinions and interpretations of it.
Part of the course will be dedicated to lectures given by theorist of photography and visuality.
The lectures are chosen in such a way to show variety of approaches to a given theme.
After each lecture there is time for question and discussion.
The main objective of the following seminar is to analyze the given lectures. This analytical discussion is based on the essays that the students are supposed to write on the given lectures. These essays -or selected ideas from them- are read on following seminar which should become a critical workshop . The essays should be a feedback to the lectures.
Assignment:
Each student will chose four lectures and will write essays on them (two for each semester). These essays should further elaborate on the topic. It should be a critical and analytical study not just reproduction of what was said by the guest or his or her biography.
These essays are to be written, amounting to at least two pages of text each (3800 signs).
