Workshop opening: May 13, 2008: commented screening of Werner Nekes´ films at Goethe Institute.

Werner Nekes (1944 D) an experimental filmmaker and media artist, author of more than 100 films, collector. His collection of artefacts documenting the evolution of pre-cinematographic experiments and early history of film represents one of the most famous collections of today. Nekes is a member of the working group of German feature film producers, of the German Society for Photography, of the European Academy of Arts, Science and Humanities. Currently, he is teaching as a Professor for Film and Media Art in Hamburg, Offenbach, Wuppertal, and Cologne [D].

Workshop will focus on the introduction of Nekes´ films and on the space and temporal principals involved in representation of moving images. Creative work with the 16 mm projector and with 16 mm camera is involved as well. The Workshop is organised in cooperation with Goethe Institute Praha.

Nekes will introduce several films from 60 ies at The Goethe Institute Praha at 6 p.m. 13. May
