JANA BOKOVA: FILMS OUT OF CATEGORIES

??some people call my documentaries antidocumentaries. I propose a journey through my films and my cities: Los Angeles („Sunset People“), Havana („Havana“), Buenos Aires („Tango Mio“), Paris („Blue Moon“), Roma, London, New York („Quinn running“).

Jana Bokova is a visiting professor to FAMU in Fall 2007. She will work with both Czech International students during the semester. On December 7-8 she will give a special presentation and workshop focused on her personal creative experience with different places, cultures, people, and continents.

? What are the differences between different environments when you want to make a movie?

? How can one approach interesting people and local communities?

? Where are the boundaries between fiction and documentary?

? How to identify the substantial story in a real life?

? Who are the heroes?

? ? and many other questions that may be asked and answered during one-day module at FAMU. On this occasion Jana Bokova will show some her most favorite films from past twenty years. Exact date will be announced during October.

Jana Bokova was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia. Since 1968 she has lived in England and America and presently lives between Paris and Buenos Aires.
