The aim of the seminar of applied photography is to improve students' skills in studio work and the use of both large-format camera and studio lighting to express creative ideas. Description of the subject: In the course of this seminar students should apply their knowledge of the basics of photographic principles and technical skills learned in first-year lectures. Assignments focus on good technical quality, depicting difficult materials, and on composition and inventiveness, which may be useful later in professional experience.

Grading:
Graded credit: granted on the basis of submission of all prescribed assignments and evaluation of submitted photographs.
The basic pre-requisites for grading are the student?s participation within at least 60% of the lectures , participation in posted mandatory joint consultations specified in the beginning of the course, as well as the submission of agreed on photographs in digital form - resolution 300 dpi with the length of the longer side of the format being 210mm.

Description of the subject: In the course of this seminar, students apply their knowledge of the basic principles of photographic and technical skills from the first-year lectures. Tasks are concentrated on good technical quality and depicting difficult materials, as well as composition and inventiveness, which may be useful in later professional experience.
Assignments: (2P5)
Students will realize these tasks in the studio with large format camera, studio lighting will be used for all photographs. At least one photograph from each item (3) has to be captured on black & white film, format of the negative minimum 6 x 9 cm. Other photographs may be done on colour negative, on slide or digitally.
Results must be on very good technical level. Compositions should use selected materials in a creative way.
