Synopsis:

The course a) examines the basic historical stages in the development of theories of theatre and drama, b) explains the basic terminology used to understand the dramatic text, and c) tests the tools used to analyse a dramatic work and its adaptation. The course also includes class attendance at a selected theatrical performance, which will then be discussed from the perspective of the relationship between the text and its production.
