The semester looks at contemporary dance artists whose work overlaps with theatrical forms of expression. Teaching focuses on
Lloyd Newson and his DV8 Physical Theatre (Great Britain),
Wim Vandekeybus and the Ultima Vez company (Belgium) and the
Japanese Butó dance of darkness (Hidžikata, Kazuo Ono, Sankai Juku, Min Tanaka).
Study is based on personal experience as a spectator, both by video projections and directly by visiting performances or through personal meetings with the artists.
Teaching through video projections, visits to performances, thematic seminars.

The subject?s aim is to familiarise the department?s students with the widest range of trends in contemporary world theatre. Emphasis is placed on the diversity of contemporary theatre and the dissolving of boundaries between individual art forms. Students learn about contemporary developments in the dramatic arts through profiles of contemporary practitioners in theatre, dance, puppet theatre design.

Curriculum:
This semester focuses on theatre projects combining various cultures and traditions (Peter Brook) and their influence on new theatre techniques (Anne Bogart - Viewpoints).
Syllabus:
Study of the latest trends in contemporary world theatre based on personal experience as a spectator. This is gained both through video projections and directly by visiting performances or through personal meetings with the artists.
