Synopsis:

Theme: dialogue and situation. Work on the individual development of students. Exercise in dialogues. Exercise in monologues. Development of the ability to improvise. Theatre as an attitude. Theme, interpretation, the character as part of the statement and the whole. Improvisation as a method and path in seeking. Greater wholes.

The subject is studied in close cooperation with students and teachers of ALD directing and ALD set design.

Prerequisites:

Talent for communication, creativity and spontaneity.

Vocal and musical skills required.

Ability to work in a team.

Study Objectives:

To develop in students of acting the ability to communicate with their audience, while using the entire spectrum of contemporary theatrical possibilities, from puppet theatre to traditional drama.

To develop all possible requirements for theatrical communication, from working with the voice and body to using artistic metaphors or puppets as a means of self expression.

To develop the student?s ability to work with a theatrical creative team, while understanding and respecting the various professions that are involved in a theatre collective?s work.

Outline and Syllabus:

Curriculum:

1. Actor - body, voice, spoken word, song.

2. Actor - working with a theatrical situation

3. Actor - from the theatrical situation to the character

4. Actor - dramatic and theatrical character when working with an artistic metaphor, the puppet and material,

5. Actor - dramatic text, analysis, interpretation, starting point for the actor?s creation,

6. Actor - putting together the production, production components: direction, dramaturgy, set design

7. Actor - the production in entirety and meeting the audience, from adults to children

8. Actor - school theatre studion, year of theatre work supervised by teachers

Syllabus:

The study of acting at the Department of Alternative and Puppet Theatre teaches students to have a broad appreciation of the possibilities of theatre communication that modern theatre offers in all its forms. The student will come into contact not only with puppet and traditional theatre but also with offer possibilities of theatrical communication based on movement, music, song, artistic metaphor and so on. Students are guided in the study of various approaches from the past so that they can find their path and open new possibilities for contemporary theatre. On this path to personal expression the school teaches them psychosomatic acting disciplines /working with the voice, body etc./ as well as a certain amount of knowledge of theatrical history and theory, musical instruction and a general overview of thought and art, philosophy and aesthetics.

Study materials:

Basic literature on acting methods from Diderot through Stanislavsky to Brook.

Other professional theoretical and historical literature as stated in practically all histories of the theatre.
