Synopsis:

Students will be encouraged to write a description of their most important (positive or negative) theatrical experience so far, to capture their own position and their relations (with colleagues, teachers) in a certain situation. Alteration: to describe a specific acting performance by a colleague or to give a written self-portrait in any way they choose fit.

Prerequisites:

Requirements:

1. Capacity for openness, frankness.

2. Capacity for reflection, self-reflection.

3. Capacity to express themselves intelligibly in words.

4. Capacity for cultivated written expression.

Study Objectives:

Students of acting are encouraged to analyse their performance on stage before an audience not as an intuitive act of divine inspiration but as the result of a specific rehearsal process and to see their role in all its contexts. This should be reflected in written work.

Outline and Syllabus:

Curriculum

1. Personal notes from exams (journal)

2. Identifying the crucial moments of the exam process

3. Identifying the individual phases of the exam process

4. Character. Describing work on a specific role.

5. Written reflection. My role in the context of all relations and elements from the entire production.

Syllabus

Students of acting are encouraged to keep personal notes when working on a school performance. They learn to describe crucial moments in the specific exam process and their function in it. They should be able to distinguish the importance of individual production elements for their acting. It?s essential that they appreciate the ability and the means of communicating with their colleagues, particularly in working with actors and the director. In their written reflection students should prove their ability to analyse one of their creative acts in all contexts.

Study materials:

The study material is always one concrete whole exam process in school training or a production including the resulting form. Students are expected to be able to use and generalise their existing knowledge and experience on all elements of the performance under reflection.
