Synopsis:

A four-semester course - major course. This course reviews the experience of the students and guides them to a system which focus on the professional designation and formulation of practical objectives and knowledge from practice, to purposeful and systematic practice and a comprehensive overview of various methods and forms of Drama training.

Prerequisites:

To master all the didactic material of drama training, be able to define the field and characterize its parts and forms, use field terminology, to professionally, verbally and in writing express oneself, a consolidated, conceptual, independent approach, collaborate on the conception and execution of a project. Study the required literature and selected works from wider literature.

Study Objectives:

To provide student with complete broad knowledge of drama training instruction in all its forms, guide them to a conscious and purposeful management of practical experience, formulation and designation of all elements and parts of the professional drama training instructor.

Outline and Syllabus:

1. The specific characteristics of Drama training and their principles

Principles of Drama training with other branches and fields of education and training. Principles specific to Drama training.

2. The process in Drama training

The relationship of the process and the product in Drama training. Group, space, leading style, behaviour and actions of the instructor in lessons. Class management (guiding the process). Verbal management methods, the instructor in a role, further types of motivation and guidance. Building a lesson.

3. Planning in Drama training and setting goals.

Planning. Formulating goals, selection of instruction tools.

4. Forms of Drama training

Forms in education. Various forms in Drama training, institutional and organizational: interest drama training, school drama training. Drama methods in instructing other subjects at various levels. Drama training in special education, the health care and social services fields. Drama training in preparing instructors.

5. The content of Drama training

Source of Drama training content. Didactics of transforming selected knowledge.

6. Drama training methods

Branches of drama in the world. Types of classification methods. Improvisation models. Topic wholes and drama structuring. Improvisation according to a narrative (playmaking). Games and exercises, their systems, goals and arrangements.

7. Theatre practice with children and youth.

Issues with public performance. Condition in public performance and its evaluation, psychology of children's stage performance. Staging generation process. Critique in children's and youth theatre, contests and reviews.

8. Evaluation in Drama training

Diagnostics, classification, evaluation. Criterial and normative evaluation, concurrent and closing. Evaluation individuals and ensembles, evaluation tables. Instructor self-evaluation.

9. Didactics project

In the cours of the lesson the didactics are realize through a so-called didactic project. The ensemble in cooperation with the educator selects material on which they jointly evaluation the topic or material, a smaller group (2-3 students) execute the project with their own or another ensemble.

10. Course work

Students select a didactics topic from a list by the instructor, whether a general topic or linked to one of the Drama training forms, type of school, age group or institution or subject, etc.
