The course which is linked to „Chapters in Literary History“ (Kapitoly z Literarni teorie) provide the students with the fundamental phases of the development of Czech and World literature for children and youth and the changes in its genre composition. The development of literature for children and youth is set in the context of nationwide and world literature, following the development and basic phases of Czech literature for children and youth, guiding the students through issues of literary folklore with consideration of literature for children and youth. This offers the students a basic knowledge of world literature for children and youth and introduces them to key persons and works.
- Prerequisites:

Students are required to have an expanded knowledge of literary theory and general literary history at the level of a baccalaureate study at a Arts High School or education study and the ability to perceive various elements and values of a literary text. Part of the coursework is a systematic monitoring of the current literature, particularly creations for children.
- Study Objectives:

The course aim is to open the road to a knowledge of literary types, genres and genre variations in literature for children and youth. Instruction combines practical activities with lecture with an emphasis on the contextual relationship so the student penetrate the inherent laws of the development of literature for children and understand it's wider contexts. In the presentation of the development of literature for children and youth (including issues of folk literary creations) and accent is place upon drama and drama training view of the potential of the creation. In relation to the „Chapters from Literary Theory“ course (Kapitoly z literarni teorie), students develop the ability to interpret a literary text and a sensitivity to what it offers theatre and drama training practice.
