Synopsis:

The course; Psychology and its practical use for drama training teachers. This course includes an overview of psychology, organization and understanding of psychological terminology, becoming familiar with the fundamental psychology branches, their paradigm and contributions, psychology disciplines (developmental psychology, social psychology, etc.) as well as a section of self-experience, psychological tests and surveys, methods of drama-therapy and psycotherapy focused on the body.

Prerequisites:

The students should be familiar with the fundamental psychological concepts, be able to specify individual development periods in relationship to drama training, bea ble to describe basic personality theory and apply them in the education process. Part of the exam is the defense of the individual paper.

Study Objectives:

The aim of the course is to provide students with a sufficient knowledge of psychology for use in educational practice. To generate the ability to create a purposeful and relevant definition of psychological phenomena based on their knowledge and knowledge of subject literature. Identify the development of perosnality and development the specifics of concrete drama training target groups (young school age, retirees, an the like.). To understand children with behaviour problems and expand the possibilities of controlling that behaviour. Among other aims is to introduce students to wider understanding of the concept of personality, teach them to select appropriate teaching approaches base on knowledge of individual personality types. Finally, to map the borders between psychotherapy and drama training.

Outline:

- The subject Psychology

- General psychology (psychological phenomena and processes)

- Psychology methodology, methods of researching mental and social phenomena,

- Personality diagnostics.

- Principles of developmental psychology.

- Principles of personality psychology

- Principles of social psychology

- Applied psychology, education psychology and the psychology of actors.

- Mental problems and psychopathology, crisis intervention.

- Drama training and psychotherapy

- Further contributions of psychology to drama training, fairy tale archetypes and psychotherapy focused on the body.

Syllabus:

1. The subject: Psychology: psychology as a science, the most important moments, the history of psychology, psychology paradigms, pluralism in psychology, fundamental psychological branches, basic psychology terminology, definitions of concepts, determination of paradigms.

2. General psychology: the psyche - experience, cognition, feelings and aspirations, behaviour, actions, word and expression. Concepts of the conscious and unconscious. Mental processes and disposition, intelligence, memory and desire.

3. Psychology methods: quantitative and qualitative research, methods of research, experimenation, observation, analysis of steps of action. Research in drama training.

4. Personality diagnostics.

5. Principles of develpmental psychology.

6. Principles of personality psychology.

7. Principles of social psychology.

8. Applied psychology.

9. Mental problems and psychopathology, crisis intervention: problem vs. sickness, fundamental psychopathology classifications, psychoses, neuroses and personality disorders. Difficult life situations and bases of crisis intervention.

10. Drama training and psychotherapy: Branches in psychotherapy, transferrance and counter-transferance, psycho-drama drama therapy and drama education. Ethics in psychotherapy and drama training.

11. Fairy-tale archetypes and psychotherapy focused on the body: An archetype and its role in a narrative, fairy-tale analysis, archetypal transposition of a narrative. The role of symbols.

12. The body in psychotherapy and the theatre: self-experience lesson, grounding, chasms, sitting. A. Pesso and the Pesso-Boyden Psychomotor system in relation to a structured drama.
