Synopsis:

This course is focused on mastering fundamental issues in drama training theory, active mastery of the application of practical knowledge and their generalization. This course has a seminar character whose goal is the presentation and discussion of the students' seminar papers on selected topics.

Prerequisites:

To draft the seminar work, participate in given topic discussions. Verbally and in written form formulate theoretic issues, discuss them, use precise terminology and define the basic concepts of the profession.

Study Objectives:

To guide the students to a greater understanding of the coherency, grounds and effects of the drama training profession. To master abilities in verbally and in writing to formulate theory knowledge in the study, define the basic concepts.

Outline and Syllabus:

Curriculum:

- Drama training as a system.

- The relation of drama training to other disciplines.

- Educational-psychological knowledge in drama training.

- The theatre and drama as a source of content and methods for drama training.

- Special issues of other disciplines and drama training.

- Seminar paper.

Syllabus:

Framework of topics for the seminar paper:

- Drama training and its relationship to other disciplines.

- Drama training and its relationship to personal social development, social training, psychodrama and drama therapy.

- The content of drama training - the arts and social sciences as sources of topics for drama training, topic planning.

- Training, education and instruction, concept of instruction and its types, processes and products.

- Dramatics and theatrics, drama and drama situations, dramatic tension, conflict, dramatic construction and its application in drama training.

- A play, its principle and classification of plays, a play as a free activity and a play managed in the framework of training and education, a play and acting.

- Playing a role and its application in training and education.

- Improvization and interpretation in drama training and in the theatre.

- Creativity, its psychology, fundamentally creative and non-creative moments as elements of a drama training method.

- A group, group dynamics, the structure of a group, social climates and atmospheres, communication, partnership in training and education.

- Emotion and emotional intelligence, their functions in drama training, influence of drama training on their development.

- Ability, aptitude and talent versus drama training, acting training - children and adults.

- Drama training as a profession and the drama method in training other subjects (school drama), differences in goals, content, methods, evaluation of results.
