Synopsis:

Linked to „Current Tendencies in Theatre I, there is a monitoring and analysis of the current domestic theatre situation, continuingthe cycle with a look at current theatre events and trends throughout the world (primarily in Europe). This is also in all directions of theatre typology of developed countries: theatre as a public cultural service, theatre as a private enterprise and particularly theatre in the non-profit sphere (alternative, “third" theatre).

Study Objectives:

The intention is to provide those interested not only information (and sources of knowledge) and a basic knowledge, a broader scope necessary for domestic activities but as well to guide them to the skill to critically evaluate the current state, to create a hierarchy and use impulses in a productive manner. The goal is also knowledge supporting personal execution in processes in the theatre.

Outline and Syllabus:

The study plan is focused on the current scene abroad and its roots: programs inspiring theatre reforms - French and Russian theatre avant garde, -isms and their new forms (dada, neo-dada, Bauhaus experiment, Surrealism, political theatre, theatre events, happenings, body-art, mininmalism, concepts, instalations, rituals, movement-physical theatre, etc.); as well, defined are basic models of theatre operations (middle-European = German, Anglo-American (including Broadway, off-Broadway and Off- off- Broadway movements). Furthermore, French impulses: concept of People's theatre, TNP, Festival in Avignon, decentralization, the Lang era), as well, inspiring examples from the areas of Opera, Dance and Musical theatre, European projects and the like. Some topics are presented interactively, in discussions and through video- projections, in exceptional cases through audience analysis, course papers; Conclusion of the course is by exam with credit.
