- Synopsis:

This seminar focuses on familiarization with the most important contemporary Euro-American theatrical trends; besides direct individual experience with foreign theatre, it uses video recordings, foreign-language dramatic texts and, of course, texts existing in Czech translations.
- Prerequisites:

- participation in the seminar (2 absences per semester are tolerated);
- continuous preparation and active work in the seminar;
- 1 paper during the semester;
- final term paper
- Study Objectives:

The goal of the seminar is to familiarize students with current European theatrical or dramatic works, especially those based on different principles from the theatrical culture of Central Europe or of the Czech Republic and is therefore neglected by current czech dramaturgy. The emphasis is on work with texts that do not fall into traditional dramatic categories and therefore are resistant to classic dramaturgical analysis. An integral part of the seminar is also reflection on the different preception of the dramatic or of theatricality in various (European) cultures.

Seminar focuses on theatre in France, Great Britain, Germany and Austria, and alternatively on theatre in Italy and Poland.
