Synopsis:

Vocal exercises are sung at moderate volume levels (mf, mp).

Prerequisites:

1. Mastery of ribcage/diaphragm breathing.

2. Interpretation of folk songs.

3. Musical performance of a song (rhythm, good intonation, dynamics, desired expression).

Study Objectives:

1. Expert training of actors for theatrical ensembles.

2. Care for the culture of the voice and the word.

3. Fostering of singing skills and proper habits.

4. Cultivation of musical feeling and perception.

5. Developing of sense of melody, rhythm and harmony.

6. Sight-singing.

Outline and Syllabus:

Curriculum:

1. Breath exercises - training for ribcage/diaphragm breathing.

2. Vocal exercises with a small range.

3. Repertoire folk songs.

Syllabus:

Calm, deep ribcage/diaphragm breathing, taking into account the individual student.

Training in 3 phases: inhaling, holding the breath and slow, regular exhalation on the syllables -s-, -sh-, or -yo-, -mu- etc.

Vocal exercises: a)brumendo with a 3-note range, b) attack on one tone, joining of two tones and three-tone melodies ascending the major scale using the syllables -mu-, -mo-, -yu-, -yo- etc. The important thing is alternating vowels with appropriate consonants and leveling vowels on one tone.

All exercises are done with a relaxed posture of the whole body and relaxed position of the head, relaxed lower jaw and natural action of the lips.
