Techniques and basics of various dance types. Dance skill, work with a partner. Rhythm, fostering musicianship and movement memory, expression appropriate to a definite dance character.

Syllabus:
Instruction leads to differentiation between genres and dance styles. To varying degrees it involves mastery of skills, expanding one's dance repertoire, developing partnerships, work with costumes and props (train, cane, tophat, fan). To some degree, work in a semester follows the topics of acting work.
Curriculum:
Year I - Bohemian and Moravian folk dance, Czech ballroom dancing in the 19th century
Year II - period dance, e.g. renaissance, menuet and 20th century ballroom dancing, dances of foreign nations
Year III - tango, special dance styles like r-n-roll, jazz dance, cancan, swing. Step and flamenco - these dance styles are taught as electives.
