Course description:

The students can ask any teacher in the Department of Photography to supervise their work. In Master degree programme the students are expected to work on the Final Photo Series for Exhibition within the studio of their choice. The Final Photo Series for Exhibition presents the work of the students, and should demonstrate the skills acquired throughout their studies. The Final Photo Series for Exhibition is the main part of the final examinations; it is a finals subject, and is assessed by a committee of teachers who decide whether it complies with the year's assignment.

The Final Exhibition Photo Series in the third year can be later presented in the Bachelor programme examination. It is therefore assess ed only within the bounds of its meeting the year's requirements needed for completing the third year. The Exhibition Photo Series, if presented b y the student, is assessed and graded in the final Bachelor programme examination. Accepting it at the Final Commission examination does not in any way anticipate its later evaluation nor does it imply its acceptance in the State final exams of the Bachelor programme!

Assignments: (Practical 3P7)

The Exhibition Series is a set of at least eight photographs that make an integrated whole. The manner in which they are made, their size, and the way they are mounted must first be agreed to by the supervisor. The student may present the Exhibition Photo Series in another form if he or she can explain why this is necessary.

Winter semester:

Writing an explanatory essay justifying the planned series will be presented to the selected teacher.

Systematic work on the series; consultations with the supervisor who will on the basis of this essay decide whether he will supervise the student's work. Once the teacher has consented to supervise the Exhibition Photo Series the student must inform the Department of Photography of who his or her supervisor is and what his or her topic is. By writing the credit into the student's course-unit record book the teacher demonstrates that he or she is acquainted with the student's project and is willing to supervise it.

Summer semester:

Systematic work on the Photo Series for Exhibition, with obligatory consultations while the work is in progress.
