Course description:

An Introduction to European Surrealism focusing on film. Surrealistic ideas about the purity of movies, Bunuel´s revolts against the society and church, German Deluc´s imagination, and Antonin Artuad´s theories and their applicability to film language will be covered. Jan Svankmajer´s Transmutations of the Senses, films: Food and Death of Stalinism in Bohemia, etc. will be analyzed and discussed.
