The pre-term examination is designed for students whose knowledge of the language meets the requirements for the final exam and which corresponds to the level of course 9. The student is obliged to register for the pre-term examination at the latest by the end of November of his first year of Bachelor?s study. If he passes the exam, he is exempted from attending lessons. He is given the full number of credits (5), and he can pass the examination in the final year of his Bachelor?s programme. If he fails, he is obliged to attend 5 semesters of foreign language courses. The pre-term examination eliminates compulsory attendance of courses. However, the student still has the obligation to pass the final examination. If his knowledge improves during the second or later semesters of his studies, KCJ may excuse him from the remaining language courses and permit him to take the pre-term examination under the above-mentioned conditions, and the student can gain the corresponding number of credits.
