Study Objectives:

Fingering technique , intonation assuredness, feeling for rhythm, tone and breathing and interpretation imagination are instructed using the most challenging etudes. Recital compostions are oriented towards the pivotal Bassoon repertoire.

Continuing participation in symphony and opera orchestra auditions.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Instrument skills at the level corresponding to study year and student profile.

Recommended optional programme components

Chamber literature in duets, trio and other combinations of wind, string, keyboard and percussion instruments.

Course contents:

The Bassoon is an instrument in many music ensembles. This course provides students with all skills needed in playing the Bassoon. The course must guide the student to the final bachelor's course. All work with the student is in regards to the graduation concert and written paper. An appropriate repertoire and topic are sought. In order to set the greatest technical challenge for the student, the most difficult etudes in technique, embouchure and breathing aspects are selected - Pivoňka, Bozza. Students achieve refined fingering technique and ability to hold any tone. The tone quality must fulfill the requirements of composition from all style periods. The intonation level must bear the most demanding requirements. A personal approach is necessary. The repertoire of this course is reflected in the interests of the student and is become their calling-card. It is necessary to go through the fundamental Bassoon repertoire - Mozar, Weber, Vivaldi, Domažlický. It is best when the graduation thesis is of a topic which is of interest to the student and allows for the broadest and highest quality of topic development. Double-staccato is instructed to all students.

Assessment of instrument and orchestra playing. Fulfillment of established repertoire. AKS certification. All concluded with the award of credit.
