- Study Objectives:

This course provides students with knowledge of orchestra playing literature and practices the most significant solos which the orchestra musician may encounter. In all courses all composers gradually show up and their important solos for French Horn in the orchestral world. This course works with domestic and foreign orchestral study editions and Czech orchestra (Czech Philharmonic, FOK, The Czech Republic Symphony Orchestra, The National Theatre), specialized parts .

- Course contents:

Students in this course acquire stage performance experience. Their role in instruction alternates. Students become performers and what is most important, have the opportunity to express themselves about the given performance. In a concert performance are a number of performance questions to which the course gives answers. Student performances are in performance analysed and assessed by the professor as well as the students. For each course, space is given for all wind instruments and all period styles. Students create in each semester a cohesive concert program. Student performances are evaluated in all aspects of performance. First the composition the student played is analyzed and all perfomance pitfalls are demonstrated. How the student managed these is evaluated. The level of play is also remarked upon in technique, intonation, sound, dynamics and performance. Comparisons are made with other prominent artists are made on the same piece on a CD and pros and cons defined. The opportunity to perform individual compositions in public is not neglected. This experience is very important in concert performance.
