INVESTIGATION AND THE DOCUMENT (Introductory course) - What are investigative methods? Where and when can we use them? Limited concepts, messiahnism, exhibition or adrenalin sport? What is it good for? Documentary film vs. journalism. What is planned for the semester? - expected interaction.
JOURNALISTIC AND FILM ESSAY - investigative and writing practice, comparison, differences in film language. What is journalism good for? How can it be done otherwise? TV formats or genres, difference between the perception of the TV and film images, the filmscreen. Documentary film, participatory documentary film, particulars of expression means. Genre space. About the intranslatibility of film on the screen and vice versa. (Note: A jourlistic essay or report - is something of the like? - or is that a genre which was thought up a few years ago during work on the long cancelled program CT Nadoraz).
WORKING WITH SOURCES - What all does it bring? Open sources, newspapers, archives, registries, etc. Personal contacts. So-called Cibulkovy List cibulka.com. What would happen if they didn't exist? Official versions of Ministry of the Interior registries - mvcr.cz/stb/index.html . Secret services around us as well as a little history. Mosad or KGB, what to choose in life. Fat red lines of the past. Guests: at least one or more.
INVESTIGATION AND HISTORY - recent topics but as well those from distant history. Constant updating of historical topics. Period shifts. Open potential. What new can be found? Great spaces for historians and people who are interested in history. It is enough to look and ask. Topics from recent history lie everywhere in the streets. It could be be the Čihošťský miracle or Babice
A HIDDEN CAMERA FOR A STAGED SCENE - In a documentary and in journalism. A hidden camera and its potential - and technology, the ethics of using a hidden camera. Rumors that we have graft at home and no one has asked about it. We've never had problems with the prosecutor's ethics. State representatives are the same today. Luckily, in film it is not so simple as a in ?creation?. Documentary reconstruction as a working method. The Civil Code No# 40/1964 Sb.
MANIPULATION AND PROPAGANDA IN DOCUMENTARY FILM
INVESTIGATION AND TIME - Some cases continue completely on their own, for many years - their participants finally implicate themselves. God's mills and mafia structures. Cases need to be pushed, pressed, heated up, which we don't know how to do. We don't have enough energy, endurance, obstinancy, unsustainable There's no room for it. Courage is lacking. Leeches are sweet and in the end well paid. The tea-urn as a working method.
- Jana Lorenzová and LTO - M. Kovářík (j.h. - already 8 years in heaven) and others?
- Lubor Kohout and Rebeka Křižanová about Bamberku - M.Zeman (j.h. - probably won't happen), but finally admitted it.
- Martin Řezníček and Lubor Kohout about KATOvi - J. Kavan - (j.h. also probably won't happen), but also will definitely finally admit it and will be with us in the end present in the reports?
- and again what about the Watergate affair? - Woodward and Bernstein (j.h. - unfortunately also won't happen?)
Evaluation, as possible, that Watergate was about the society as well as the role of journalists and filmmakers in them. Guard dog or Guard puppy?
METHODS OF DIALOGUE or FOOT IN THE DOOR - manners of conducting a conversation, prepared questions and what to do with them. Preparations. A conversation as a battle Vs. the potential of the dialog. Waiting for mistakes. Avoiding maneuvers. Dead ends. Assertiveness. Sensitivity. The difference between journalism and documentary.
WORKING WITH EVIl - negative reactions which cannot be avoided. On-going. Manners of working. Self-protection. Exhaustion, Impact on the family, Protection. Reporters vs. police. P.R. vs. reporters - who's on what side?
INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISTS vs THE CZECH REPUBLIC AND A LITTLE HISTORY - on-going, Will there be interest on both sides? Guests who would be willing to come and discuss that which was a topic in their lives.
J. Spurny and others (Respekt), Sabina Slonková (able to be coaxed) also with Kubíkem (MFD), Josef Klíma (Nova), David Vondráček (essay writer), J. Lorencová (ČT), and also L. Kohout with Řezníček. And Watergate? - a life topic.
