Study Objectives:

The aim of the lectures is theory preparations for managing a drama work using TV technology with the complete scale of posibilities the technology is capable of.

Mode of delivery:

Přednáška, doplněná prospekty, teorie svícení osvětlena na tabuli, teoretická příprava školních TV cvičení, konsultace, účast pedagoga při natáčení.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Theory and practical knowledge corresponding to the to-date completed lectures and exercises.

Course contents:

The lectures regarding TV drama creations supplement the „TV Creations“ course with theory supplements in given topics. The concept of a TV drama work is characterized and divided into separate types according to specifications, footage, subject matter or type of recording. The importance of the preparations period is explained covering individual phases of that period, from the screenplay inspiration, image directorial concept and collaboration with the cameraman to the creation of the technical screenplay. Also discussed in detail is the implementation period with attention devoted to the significant potential of the post-production period.

An outline:

From the visualization of a literary drama base through to the technical screenplay, close collaboration is needed between the director and the cameraman.

The basic significance of the architect in the image effect of the work. Selection of surroundings, the designed set floorplan, color, furnishings management, recording potential, working with the floorplan in the creation of the technical screenplay.

Considerations of the recording and lighting technology, that is; number and type of cameras, rails, cranes, number and types of lamps, production defined conditions.

Cooperation with other professions which influence the quality of the image facet: costumers, make-up artists, main lighting director, video technician.

The recording period in the studio: organizing work in recording with sequential technology, activity sequence requiring the guidance of the whole of the creative team by the director, close collaboration with the main cameraman.

Managing the leading role of the main cameraman in a team of colleagues, strategic and sufficient diplomatic communications not only with the team of subordinates but with studio employees, actors, etc.

The light tone treatment in classical TV recording and its issues, compromises in recording from multiple directions. Individual manners of lighting in creating atmosphere with an accent on actor movement, influencing the atmosphere of the image by the size of the shot linked to close-up shots.

Podmínkou úspěšného absolvování předmětu je dostatečná komunikace při přípravě a natáčení televizních projektů, konsultace na přednáškách, porozumění digitánímu principu tv obrazu a schopnost tvůrčího ztvárnění v praktickém cvičení.
