The aim of the seminar of applied photography is to improve skills of studio work. Tasks are concentrated on good technical quality, depicting difficult materials as well as on composition and inventiveness that may be useful in later professional experience.

Demonstration in the beginning, presentation of other students works, consultations of the work in progress, individual help at request.

Basic knowledge of studio work ? specially studio lighting, work with the large format camera etc.

Description of the subject: In the course of this seminar, students apply their knowledge of the basic principles of photographic and technical skills from the first-year lectures. Tasks are concentrated on good technical quality and depicting difficult materials, as well as composition and inventiveness, which may be useful in later professional experience.
Assignments: (2P5)
Students will realize these tasks in the studio with large format camera, studio lighting will be used for all photographs. At least one photograph from each item (3) has to be captured on black & white film, format of the negative minimum 6 x 9 cm. Other photographs may be done on colour negative, on slide or digitally.
Results must be on very good technical level. Compositions should use selected materials in a creative way.
