- Study Objectives:

The course is focused on landscape photography and architecture in their interaction, development of architecture in accordance to particular movements through the history to the present. Emphasis will be placed on both proficient technical processing and capturing of the uniqueness of the objects. The large format cameras or middle format cameras with shift lenses will be used and for capturing of the first impression can be used cine-film or digital camera.

In the theoretical part of the course the basic knowledge about the different methods of photography of architecture will be presented. Pattern examples of different architectural movements will be shown. During the taking pictures of architecture students will be guided to gain information about the building, its purpose. In the course Techniques of Photography students will be taught how to use the light in interiors. Illumination of exteriors and choice of suitable season of the year will be discussed individually. Choice of buildings according to the assignments will be up to the students. For the assignment no: 4 students will choose the topic, collect the information about the architect, building and other relative circumstances. This part has to be presented by the end of the winter semester, where during the consultation with the tutor, the selection of the topic will be considered.

Assignments:
1/ photography of city landscape 4 pictures 30 x 40 cm
a/ 1 overall picture of the city
b/ 3 pictures of the urban landscape specific for the given location
2/ photography of architectonic style till the 19.century 2 pictures 30 x 40 cm
a/ the overall picture
b/ characteristic detail of the given building
3/ photography of present architecture 2 pictures 30 x 40 cm
a/ the overall picture
b/ characteristic detail of the given building
4/ architectonic movement - set of photographs representing the characteristic features of the given object as a particular movement, including exteriors, interiors and the building as a whole in the context with its surroundings. Pictures will be presented in a form of book or catalogue with graphic arrangement. The minimum is 8 pages and 8-10 pictures. Topic and realization will be discussed with the tutor till the end of the winter semester.
5/ thematic photographic actions - will be realized during each semester. Photographs have to be presented and will be evaluated according to in advance adjusted rules.

Credit:
WS: choice of buildings, collection of the information needed, basic concept done, delivering of the assignment no:1.
Exam:
SS: evaluation of the presented assignments with respect to their fulfillments and quality of processing.
Participation: the students will not be graded unless they have at least 70% attendance in the lectures and participation on all mandatory events and trips announced at the beginning of the course.
