- Study Objectives:

The aim of the exercise is to master particular needed tecnical equipment and to create the complete sound element of a given audio-visual work. Acquisition of additional experience in teamwork.
- Mode of delivery:
-
Student work on the sound component of an assigned practical exercise containing common technological procedures in AV creation.
In the first phase: Screenplay study, consultations with the director and Sound Dept. instructor, preparations for shooting and the shooting itself in defined surrondings (studio, exterior and on location).
In the second phase: Completing the work on ProTools - setting the sound to the image, cleaning, correction and sound mix synchronization of the prepared recording, set in several tracks.
In shooting, the student as sound master, who manages the work of the assistant as the „mike“ - in principle a Sound Dept. student from a lower study year.
An inseparable part of the exercise is the written explication, which must be submitted with the AV recorded exercise. In the written explication the student must demonstrate, along with creative talent, the ability for a rational view of professional issues, and is able to master the task not only practically but is able to systematically describe, analyse and understand the fundaments of the given issue and take away theory lessons from the experience.
The explication needs to have:
- a demonstrated analysis of the assignment in which the student understands the sense and particular considerations of the task.
- a consideration of the potential variations and substantiate the sound dramaturgy and implementation treatment selected.
- a description of the technology applied, technical equipment used and working manner including precise data about technical adjustments, etc.
- a comment on the environment which influenced implementation, (influence of the surroundings, collaboration of the crew members).
- an evaluation of the results of their work and deduce general conclusions, also possibly, analyse reasons for deficiences and suggest a better solution.
- a demonstration good writing skills in professional writing - in written form without slang and grammar mistakes.
The explication should contain the appropriate formal structure, systematic organization and clear division. At the beginning the student name, study and study year must be given. Furthermore, a complete specification of the identification data of the work must be given - work title, genre, crew members (professions), format, footage, date of completion, and the like. At the end, the explication must be dated and handsigned.
The content and formality level of the explication is reflected in the overall evaluation of the exercise.
- Prerequisites and co-requisites:

An active approach to practice in the course of preparations, shooting and post-production. Concurrent consultations with the instructor.

Students demonstrate their ability to think from the perspective of sound dramaturgy and to work with sound techniques and the necessary technology to create a complete sound sound component for the audiovisual assignment.

Moderated and non-mderated discussion; analysis of screenplays and shooting material, consultations on sound post-production, screenings of completed films.

Credits are awarded based on the commission evaluation of the submitted film and written explication.
