- Study Objectives:

The aim of the course is the management of the necessary technical equipment selected and creation of the complete sound elements of the assigned AV work. Acquisition of additional experience in teamwork.
- Mode of delivery:

The student's work on the sound component of the assigned practical exercise includes a completely usual technological procedure of AV creation. In the first phase: A study of the screenplay, consultations with the Sound Dept. instructor, preparations for shooting snd the shooting itself in a defined environment (studio, exterior or on location).
In the second phase: Finishing work on ProTools - setting the sound to the image, cleaning work, adjustments and synchronization of recorded sound, supplementary music, background noise and ambient sound either recorded or selected from the archives. The final operation is the sound mixing of the prepared recording, set to multiple-tracks.
In the shooting the student as the sound master, directs the work of the assistant who works ask the microphonist - principally a Sound Dept. student from a lower study year.
An inseparable part of the exercise is the written explication, which is required to be submitted with the AV recorded exercise. In the explication, the student should demonstrate that along with talent for creative activities, an ability for a rational view of professional issues. That the task is not only mastered practically but also the ability to systematically describe the work, analyse, understand the basis of the given issue and deduce from the experience general theory knowledge.
In the explication it is necessary
- to demonstrate an analysis of the assignement that the student understands the purpos and particular importance of the task.
- to consider potential variations and substantiate the sound dramaturgy and implemented treatment selected
- to describe the applied technology, technical equipment used and manner of work including precise data about technical adjustments, etc.
- to comment on the environment that influenced the implementation, (influence of the surroundings, crew collaboration...),
- evaluate the results of the work and derive general conclusions, and analyse reasons for deficiencies and suggest better alternative treatments.
- to demonstrate the ability of good stylized writing of a professional text - in standard language without slang and grammar errors.
The explication should be in the appropriate form, systematically arranged and well organized. At the beginning the student name, study, and study year must written. Further is a complete listing of identifying data about the work - Title of the work, genre, names of the authors (crew professions), format, footage, date of completion, etc. At the end the explication must be dated and handsigned.
The content and formality level of the explication is conisdered in the overall grading of the exercise.

Active approach to the task in preparation, shooting and post-production. Consultations with the instructor.

Students create a complete sound component for the audiovisual assignment, wherein they learn to think from the perspective of sound dramaturgy and to work with sound techniques and the required technology.
