Study Objectives:

The aim of the course is a preparation for study and group exercises and a mastery of the basic procedures in digital editing, modification and mixing of sound in ProTools.

Mode of delivery:

Conveyance of instructor experience, discussion, creative activity.

Individual tasks focused on editing exercises and adjusting dialogues and background noise in mixing in ProTools.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

General experience of working on a computer

Knowledge of Apple OS X

Knowledge of ProTools 8.xx

Completion of „Fundamentals of Computer Sound Processing“ (308ZPZ)

Recommended optional programme components

No electives required.

Course contents:

Students develop working habits in digital sound processing. The task is to prepare for study and group exercises and for mastering basic sound editing and modification procedures. The content of the course is individual tasks focused on exercising sound editing and modification for mixing in ProTools.

Edit, modification and setting of post-synchronized dialogues.

Edit, modification and setting of post-synchronized background noise.

Edit, modification and setting of the sound atmosphere.

Assessment methods and criteria

Credit is awarded for: submission and presentation of the required work:

a/ final edit of dialogues M+Š

b/ final edit of post-synchronized Foley test background noise.

c/ final modification of volume level of post-synchronized Foley test.

completion of the final interview.
