This seminar is focused on cinematographic analysis of shot as basic cell of the film. Every shot (like a table) stands on four legs - composition of picture, view parameters, light atmosphere and movement. Those aspects can make harmony like a usual table, but sometimes some leg(s) can be longer or shorter than the others. How does it work? How does it look?
In the first semester we will talk about particular aspects of structure of a shot. Every lesson will be preceded by screening of a film (on DVD in English or with English subtitles), which will be then analyzed in class from certain viewpoint. This theoretical cognition will be verified by exercises in still photography, focused on particular discipline. Students will be bringing their (digital) pictures during both semesters and their images will be analyzed in class too. Besides theoretical lessons there will be short technical and practical courses focused on lighting in studio, work with film camera and grip.
