Course contents:

Diletantism, amateurism, and the do-it-yourself phenomenon unintentionally and mistakenly enter from the world outside art into its center and become regular artistic practices. In a closer look, the topic begins to perfectly break down and obstruct categorization, however it is possible to consider Miroslav Tichy's photographs of women's behinds as marginal as a miniature street art piece entering as a synonym to the Slinky left to its fate on the streets of London. At first the recording (and subsequent pompous presentation) in Tichy's case or the offer of the Slinky book publication whirls the carousel of interest about the work and draws it into the service of art.

It is possible to broaden the aformentioned cases by two approaches.

Research the artistic work which relates itself to a completely new and novel (we start from that which we had to learn about the work and the creatores from some publically accessible source and „accept it.“ How did it happen and what are the current tendencies) and wether to research the artistic processes themselves which traditionally are on the margins of art (aesthetically created). This is a method of extracting banality (family films, photographs, coincidences, errors, technically poor quality), the elevation of kitsch, working with pop-culture artefacts (and their recontextualization), inspiration through extra-art artefacts.

The research space is flexibly limited and its contours are permeable. It is defined by the figures of artists of the same works as the modern tendencies in art, channels by which the recipient come through, fashion waves and who knows what all.
