Theory and practice of mise-en-sc?ne. Significant styles and creative approaches in modern film history are present in this course through practical a factual analysis of a dozen of great films. Notion of mise-en-sc?ne will be examined both as a tool of directing and a critical/analytical approach. Analyses are focused on realist code but open also to other styles.
Disclosure of possible meanings and interpretation of them is the aim of the course. During the sessions students will watch films in their entirety (English version or subtitled) and short examples illustrating particular topics. Discussion through which the international students can share their own film experiences based on their own cultural tradition is important part of each lesson. Mutual exchange of ideas and artistic experiences enables the students to gain as much inspiration as possible.
Students should ask anything that is not clear enough, bring their own ideas and participate actively in the whole course.
