Students adopt key historical turning points in the constitution and development of documentary film, fundamental tendencies, persons and further contextual influences.
Furthermore, students watch examples or complete selected works in which the given issue is manifested.

This course is a lecture, screening of examples or whole films with commentary and discussions.

Not required, but welcomed is at least a basic overview of the historical framework of the main currents in cinema.

Since the end of the 20s documentary film has belonged to a specific historical manifestation in the field of cinema. As such it has be conceptualized in production and distribution. The aim of the course is to present key events of that streem through a presentation commented through the experience of the student/viewer. A part of the course is also a discussion of methods which represent that in documentary film and also in fiction film narrative strategies.
