Students gain familiarity with a variety of techniques useful for working with actors. Students understand acting as an art form having many valid approaches, sharing fundamental principles.

A survey of important approaches to acting. Students will look at theories and techniques from acting teachers such as Stanislavski, Meyerhold, Lecoq, Brecht, Grotowski, Brook, the Method Teachers and Improvisation Gurus.

Two tests (33 % ), written response to readings (33%), participation in class exercises (33%). Students must attend 70 % of classes to receive credit.
