- Study Objectives:

This course provides the student with all abiliities and knowledge needed for playing the alto flute. Students acquire a complete overview of alto flute issues. They acquire knowledge of playing on the instrument, in a general sense and potential applications of the alto flute. An emphasis is place on the gradual evening out of differences in playing quality of individual students. The less capable must achieve the level which secures a professional application with the alto flute. The literature of the course are the more challenging compositions for this instrument and with piano or chamber ensemble accompaniment. Solo, but mainly orchestra solo literature is studied.

The alto flute is found in many music ensembles. This instrument is extensively used in orchestras, as a solo instrument and other music genres. This course provides the student with all abiliities and knowledge needed for playing the alto flute. Students acquire a complete overview of alto flute issues. They acquire knowledge of playing on the instrument, in a general sense and potential applications of the alto flute. An education methodology overview is supported by instruction. An emphasis is place on the gradual evening out of differences in playing quality of individual students. The less capable must achieve the level which secures a professional application with the alto flute. The literature of the course are the more challenging compositions for this instrument and with piano or chamber ensemble accompaniment. Solo, but mainly orchestra solo literature is studied. At the close of the course all issues of alto flute playing are reviewed. Also reviewed is the overview of orchestra solos and described using the widest selection of alto flute literature.
