Course contents:

This course provides the student with all skills needed for playing the bassoon. A path is chosen to enable the student to master playing at the highest level technically, in intonation, embouchure and tone quality and in interpretation. All demands placed on the student and clarified in Bassoon 1 and 2 are, through appropriately selected etudes and recital pieces, perfected. As well, attention is given to the tongue as an important element of the fine setting of tone or quick staccato. In case of difficulty, a path is found, of course as early as Bassoon 1, for correction. All tonguing techniques are instructed here. Individual types of settings from the gentlest to the accented or over-forced are taught. In staccato, not only speed but also length of individual staccato notes are taught. It is possible play from detache to staccattissimo. Not only etudes practice new knowledge but also recital pieces are selected for that knowledge to be used in concert activities. In the selection of etudes, the most demanding characteristics are found - Pivoňka, Milde, Bovel. In recital pieces, preference is given to composers such as Vivaldi, Reicha, Weber.
