Study Objectives:

Es klarinet je značně používán v orchestrech, sólově a dnes již i v jiných hudebních žánrech. Vzhledem k tomu, že rozdíly ve hře na Es klarinet u studentů mohou být veliké, je vždy volena individuální cesta výuky. Podle schopností studentů je přidělována studijní literatura.Etudy i přednesy vycházejí mnohdy z literatury klarinetové. Přednesy se orientují i na snadnější skladby určené přímo pro tento nástroj Také pohled studenta, proč chce na Es klarinet hrát, je určující pro metodiku předmětu. Vyučuje se úprava Es klarinetových plátků. Tyto plátky jsou svou strukturou sice podobné klarinetovým, ale technika jejich úpravy má svá specifická pravidla.

Mode of delivery:

Systematic stage practice in solo creations, chamber ensembles and smaller or symphonic orchestras. Regular performance in the performance course and playback of individual instrument classes.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Instrument skills at the level corresponding to the study year and student profile.

Recommended optional programme components

Chamber literature of duets, trios and other combinations of wind, string, keyboard and percussion instruments.

Course contents:

The Eb clarinet is an instrument in many music ensembles. This instrument is used considerably in orchestras, solo and, today, in other music genres. This course gradually provides the student with all skills needed for playing. Students are divided according to their skills. They are introduced to techniques of how to properly play the Eb clarinet. Considering that the differences in playing the Eb clarinet may be quite great, individual instruction paths are selected. The individual approach and the acceptance of varying skills is the road to get the less abled quickly to a good standard of playing. The study literature is distributed according to student skills. Etudes and recital pieces originates in clarinet literature. Recital pieces are oriented towards easier compositions intended for this instrument. The viewpoint of the student about why they wish to play the Eb clarinet is definitive for the course method. Many wish to play the instrument for practical reasons of which there are many and advantageous in auditions for orchestra seats. Eb clarinet reed modifications are also taught. These reeds are, in their structure similar to clarinet reeds but modification techniques are specific.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Student participation in Chamber Music competitions and auditions for symphonic and opera orchestras.

Assessment methods and criteria

Student performance is assessed in all facets of performance. First of all the composition the student played is examined and individual pitfalls of performance are pointed out. Also assessed is how the student dealt with these problems. Noted, as well, is the playing level of the student in terms of technique, intonation, sound, dynamics and performance.
