This course prepares student for the teaching track in middle schools, conservatories or music schools. This helps students understand French horn playing principles in practice. Considering that each level of school pupil skills vary the methodology covers each level separately. First, all playing attributes are discussed using the students playing. Then all methodology exercises are defined. This covers practice in proper breathing, tone creation, embouchure, fingering technique, performance and literature knowledge. This course covers breath, tone, embouchure, instrument hold, muscle relaxing and facility in overall coordination. Breath in playing the French horn is one of the most important factors. Further development and player potential depend on the proper mastery of breathing. Breathing is methodically practiced using breathing exercises. Creation of tone depends very closely upon this. Linked to breathing is embouchure practice and a methodic analysis of proper placement and pressure of the lips, upper and lower teeth. Methodology for proper tongue technique is divided into two sections. The first covers setting, it's various types and potential and the second, staccato, its speed, length and quality.
