Study Objectives:

1.Komplexní rozvoj techniky studium technicky velmi náročných etud.

2.Studium etud rozvíjejících hru násobným staccatem.

3.Denní práce na rozšíření rozsahu nástroje.

4.Kombinace kantabilního repertoáru, technicky virtuózního přednesu a progresivní soudobé skladby pro pozoun sólo.

Mode of delivery:

On-going participation in symphony and opera orchestra auditions.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Instrument skills at the level corresponding to the study year and student profile.

Recommended optional programme components

Chamber literature in duets, trios and other combinations of wind, string, keyboard and percussion instruments.

Course contents:

This course i focused on th maximum development of the technical maturity of the student. At the beginning there is an inventory of the abilities and a flexible selection of technical etudes (Ušák, Boutry, Buonomo, Pichereau, Bitsch, Blaževič) which intensively develop those abilities further. Reviewed here must be: multiple-staccato, double and triple and at very quick tempos (Ušák, Clarke, Klainhammer). The recital literature focuses on contemporary compositions for solo trombone (Bulis, Riedelbauch, Cage, Henze, Hidas, Lang, Berio, Crespo).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Participation of students in auditions for symphonic and opera orchestras.

Assessment methods and criteria

Student performance is assessed in all facets of performance. First of all the composition the student played is examined and individual pitfalls of performance are pointed out. Also assessed is how the student dealt with these problems. Noted, as well, is the playing level of the student in terms of technique, intonation, sound, dynamics and performance.
