Study Objectives:

Shrnutí a hodnocení vývoje moderního tance na našich scénách: přehled probrané látky v souvislostech se světovým tanečním děním,.současné trendy a pohybové divadlo

Mode of delivery:

Lecture, media sample analyses, exercises, visits to relevant performances, active monitoring of the development of dance domestically and abroad.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Good mastery of dance technique, ability to teach dance phrases according to a recording, movement memory.

Recommended optional programme components

A recommended elective element is participation in a class and workshop arranged by another professional institution.

Course contents:

Summary and assessment of the development of modern dance on the domestic scene: survey of material covered.

Creations by world choreographers in the 1980s and 90s and their relationship to the Czech dance scene: R. Horta, M. Ek, W. Forsythe, N. Duato, O. Naharin, P. Bausch.

Study materials:

Dance journals

Dance international

Video recordings from private archives: recordings from performances by higher institutes of learning ensembles, Dance Center Prague, National Theatre, Television documentaries about modern dance arts.

Assessment methods and criteria

Credit is awarded based on: participation in lecture and exercises and fulfillment of written analyses

Condition for successfull completion of the course: study and presentation of a choreography example.
