Study Objectives:

Rozvíjení analytického myšlení, pochopení funkce scénografie v kontextu inscenace a východisek scénografické tvorby

Mode of delivery:

Viewing recommended production of various genres in theatre and extra-theatre spaces, their subsequent analysis and critique.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

A good bearing in the development of theatre and scenic design. Analytical thought required.

Recommended optional programme components

Collection of information in theatre archives, theatre institutes - The Theatre Institute and Theatre dept. of the National Museum. Conversations with production writers.

Course contents:

Viewing a production and its subsequent analysis. Recognition of artists' processes and production starting points.

Study materials:

Production reviews and critiques.

Texts, librettos, screenplays of analysed productions.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Visits to theatres and formulating knowledge of the origins and scenic design influences of individual productions.

Assessment methods and criteria

Credit is awarded for attendance and class participation.
