Study Objectives:

Cílem výtvarně-technického kurzu je zdokonalování posluchačů 1. ročníku ve výtvarně- technických znalostech a rukodělných dovednostech. Smyslem není jen řešení individuálních úkolů, ale naučit se i spolupracovat a koordinovat při řešení úkolů kolektivních.

Mode of delivery:

Wood in the local forests are readily available and so the artistic-technique course is oriented toward working with traditional raw material. Not only are fallen branches and logs used but also cut wood intended for local heating. Considering that wood is the most used material in set-design, this is an opportunity to learn fundamental skills in working with wood for future set-designers.

Miscellaneous objects, chamber compositions and forest installations are created from wood, Students work individually and in groups on tasks. A large workshop is available with all the equipment, devices and tools is available.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Ability to artistically complete the assignments within the intentions of the course.

Recommended optional programme components

Elective elements of the program are sports activites. Students have access to tennis court, ping-pong tables, a pool, climbing wall, boats and canoes, a sauna, etc.

Study materials:

Biographies of the classics: Bílek, Sekal, Gutfreund and other domestic and world sculptors who expressed themselves in wood.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Similar to the introductory painting course, evenings are reserved for DVD and film screenings about the fine arts and subsequent discussions. An annual part of the fine arts-technique course is also group visits to the Alš Southern Bohemia Gallerz in Hlubové nad Vltavou. Along with the rich permanent collection (wood) Czech Gothic sculptures and Dutch painting it is possible to view summer exhibits of modern Czech art.

Assessment methods and criteria

As with the introductory painting course and the artistic-technical course assessment is only by credit.
